TIPS FOR BASIC INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE FOR MOUNTAIN BIKE

1.Maintenance Routine – Before A Ride

Some things you should do or check before each and every ride:

 If all you have is a minute, do a quick 4-point check:

  1. Lube chain

  2. Check tire pressure

  3. Test brakes

  4. Quick release skewers – open, adjust and tighten

If you have 5-15 minutes, do this before every ride:

  1. Brake check – test for firmness and examine pad wear

  2. Tire pressure – inflate to your desired pressure

  3. Wheel spin – check for brake rub or bent rim

  4. Drivetrain test – shift through the gears, lube chain if needed

  5. Drop check – listen for strange sounds or loose components

  6. Suspension sag – check fork and shock settings, test bounce

  7. Check dropper post – test for smooth action and snappy return

  8. Tire surface check – look for rips or cracks

2.Maintenance Routine – Weekly

  1. Washing your bike

  2. Inspect your bike for any damage and cracks

  3. Adjust your brakes

  4. Check tires and suspension

  5. Tighten your bolts

  6. Check your bearings

  7. Fixing your gears

  8. Test ride
